Working Process

Four rooms – three as exhibition spaces and one as workshop
Maclaren Art Centre, Maple Hill Gallery Barrie, Ontario
April 18 – May 18, 1997

An installation that exhibited a process of creation over a six-week period. A functional workshop with a table saw, sewing machine, a workbench with various hand tools and a supply of materials were installed in one room. The three other rooms in the gallery were unoccupied. Over the course of the exhibit sculptures were created in the workshop and installed in the spaces initially left empty. Cameras were installed in each of the four rooms through which the process of creation was broadcast live on the internet. Only one of the pieces caught fire during creation.
